It is only by fate that I am probably able to write this post tonight. I came close to being involved in a multi-car collision; a few seconds made all the difference. This isn’t the first time and it probably will not be the last time. I
am sure that many of you are remembering incidents of your own where
you came close to being hurt or killed by some idiot driver. I, for one, am getting damn tired of it.
The incident tonight happened on the way to my sister’s house. I
have to take a multi-lane road similar to a dual carriageway except
that instead of a centre reservation, it has a lane for making left
turns from both sides. The speed limit for this road is 55 miles per hour. The traffic was heavy; it was near the rush hour, and I was driving at a reasonable 60 miles per hour. As
I near my sister’s house, I moved over to the left traffic lane as I
would need to move into the centre left turn lane at her house. Some
freaking idiot decided that I was not driving fast enough and thought
that if he got just inches away from the rear of my car that it would
magically make my car go faster. Now remember my dear readers, the lanes were full of other vehicles. As
I neared my sister’s house I started to apply my left turn indicator
and move into the centre left turn lane when the idiot quickly darted
around me on the left, in the centre turn lane, and passes me! If
I had completed my maneuver to the centre lane I would have collided
with the freaking idiot and sent him into the oncoming traffic from the
other direction. I probably would have gone into the cars traveling along side of me to my right. There
would have been a multi-car pile up and a lot of innocence people would
have been hurt or killed because some dumb idiot couldn’t drive with
a little bit of sense.
As I said above, I am getting damn tire of the mess that is on our motorways. It
is time that our courts started getting hard nose with these idiots that think they have to drive ten to fifteen miles over the
posted speed limit, not giving way when entering from slip roads, not
fully stopping at junctions with stop signs, and the list seems to go
on and on. It is time to take these idiots off of the roads, permanently. If
they can not act like responsible citizens and stop endangering the
lives of other drivers, then let them walk or hire a taxi. Driving is not a right, it is a privilege!
